St. Anthony FRIARS Do Good Things

If you are a member of our St. Anthony parish family, YOU ARE a FRIAR!!
You don’t need to wear a Friars’ basketball uniform to be on our Friar Team!
Our Friars are people of all ages who come together to help others and
represent our parish family in a meaningful, caring way in the community.

Join the Friars as they Do Good for the residents of Spectrum for Living.
Spectrum for Living is a non-profit organization dedicated to the philosophy
that persons with developmental disabilities have the same rights as others
to a fulfilling and meaningful life.   Our Friars will go to a Spectrum group home
and visit with the residents, help them decorate for Christmas, sing some carols
and maybe bake some cookies, make paper garland or build a gingerbread house.

Our Friars need to simply go to their assigned group home with smiling faces
and cheerful spirits.  The decorations will be on site.  [If you / your team leads elect
to bake / decorate cookies, make garland or a gingerbread house -- your team will
need to bring the needed items -- keep it simple .... the residents just really love the
company and special attention!]

Each group home is staffed 24 hours per day and staff will be happy to guide
our teams to make the visit fun for all!!

The Friars will form 5 teams of 10 people.  Two of the ten people on each
team must serve as adult leads.  The leads will coordinate the outing time with
Spectrum, inform team members of outing time and date, and be sure every team
member knows what to expect and do during the outing making sure that
having fun is top on the list!

Each group of 10 will be charged with going into a Spectrum for Living group home.
The group homes we’ll visit are located in Westwood,  Northvale, Paramus,
Maywood and Glen Rock.  The visits can begin as soon as your team is formed
at a time and date that works best for you and the group home.   Spectrum hopes
that the visits can happen VERY quickly so that the homes are decorated and
the residents can enjoy the beautiful sites!

We’re certain that each and every team member will always remember the difference
he/she made by visiting the group home residents and making their holiday season
super special!!  Bringing joy into the hearts and homes of our Spectrum friends will
be the best gift you could give AND receive!!
